Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery)

What is Blepharoplasty?

One of the places aging first appears is around the eyes. Eyelid surgery is therefore an extremely popular means to rejuvenate one’s appearance. The term for trimming eyelid skin laxity and reducing fat pockets is called blepharoplasty. Eyelid surgery can be performed on both the upper and lower eyelids together, or separately, as upper blepharoplasty or lower blepharoplasty.

Improved Eyelid Surgery Results

Removing excess skin and puffy fat pockets reduces dark circles and makes the eyes look larger, both of which result in a more youthful appearance. When the primary concern is to correct visual obstruction due to excess eyelid skin, upper blepharoplasty can be performed alone, but for rejuvenation purposes, upper eyelid surgery is most often combined with an endoscopic browlift. Restoration of proper brow position in combination with surgery of the upper eyelid reverses the aging process most effectively, often yielding a significantly improved outcome.
